Healthy-ish Holiday Treats

Hello to my Nourish and Charm friends! I’ve missed you!

These past 8 months have been challenging to say the least..for all of us. The pandemic has disrupted every aspect of our lives. Life as we know it looks different.  I decided to press the pause button on the blog for the last 6 months. Like you, no doubt, I found it difficult to keep up with the constant barrage of news and information coming at me daily, not to mention managing my newly very full house (silver lining…I did love having all of my kids home with us).

I was truly humbled by the outreach from so many of you who told me how much you miss my recipes! I’m so appreciative of your kind words. My simple mission on this platform is to make it easier to enjoy food in a cleaner, more wholesome way. I don’t believe we need to sacrifice the taste of our recipes for a healthier approach. Taking a classic recipe and giving it a nutritious makeover is fun for me! I know how much you care about what you serve your loved ones. Imagine being able to entertain in an elegant way, while providing good clean food at the same time.  This is achievable! Nourishing your guests physically, emotionally, and spiritually is possible...and we all need it!

Speaking of entertaining, it will look very different this holiday season. We won’t be gathering in big groups or attending our annual holiday parties. While many of our annual holiday traditions won’t happen, this can be a time to focus on traditions that we can continue. Perhaps it’s time to make memories in the kitchen! Maybe experiment with new recipes and try new ingredients. There’s no better time than the holidays to make sweet creations in your kitchen and share them with loved ones.

For that reason I’ve created a collection of holiday treats for you to try, using whole and unprocessed ingredients. I sneak super foods in too! Keep the Ginger Molasses cookies and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Krispy Bon Bons on hand to satisfy those sweet cravings whenever the need arises. Have you ever tried baking with black beans? Try my Decadent Black Bean Brownies stuffed with Almond Butter. You will be surprised at how delicious they are! The 7 Layer Bars are much to be desired. And dress up your holiday table, no matter how many people are at it, with my Chocolate Swiss Roll. Equally elegant and delicious!

May your holidays be restful, peaceful, and reflective.  May you create new memories and new traditions. I pray for your safety and health!

In Gratitude,

Susan
