Neiman Marcus Famous Cookie Recipe (Gluten-Free Version!)

Back when my kids were young, there was a famous $250 Neiman Marcus Cookie recipe that was floating around. It was said that a woman asked Neiman’s for the recipe and they charged her that much for it. She was so put out that she had to pay so much that she shared it with everyone she knew!

I’m not sure about the authenticity of the story, but I started a tradition of making them every holiday season with my kids. They loved it because so much deliciousness was poured into them. I remember lots of sneaking tastes of the ingredients going on! Since then, I have made an attempt to tweak the recipe, make it gluten-free, and clean it up a little bit. It still tastes delicious and is fun to make!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ c gf oats (ground)

  • 1 ½ c gf baking mix (I use Outrageous Baking gluten-free flour mix)

  • ½ c coconut flour

  • 1 t baking powder

  • 1 t baking soda

  • ½ t salt

  • 1 c unsalted butter

  • ½ c coconut oil

  • 1 c granulated sugar (coconut sugar works!)

  • 1 c light brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 t vanilla

  • 10 oz semisweet chocolate chips

  • 4 oz dark chocolate bar (grated)

  • 1 ½ c walnuts (chopped)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°. Mix together the first six ingredients (dry) in a mixing bowl. Separately, in the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter, coconut oil, and sugars until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Set mixer on low and gradually add the flour mixture until incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips, grated chocolate, and walnuts. Form the dough into golf ball size portions and bake for 10 minutes. Makes 2-3 dozen cookies (depending on size!)
